Street food tour with local foodie
Eating on the street is a very typical activity for Hanoians and makes up an important part of the city’s unique culture. Depart at 15:30 for a leisurely walk with our foodie expert to the Old Quarter. Make your first stop to taste the national dish of Vietnamese - Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup). Then wander around a local market to enjoy the sights, the sounds and the aroma from hundreds of kinds of food on offer. Then sit down at a tiny Banh Duc shop to try a bit of Banh Duc -cooked rice powder with Vietnamese spices. Banh Duc will be served hot or cool, depends on weather.
Your next stop is a little shop selling many different types of traditional Northern cakes such as Com cake (young rice) which is considered to be a part of every Hanoians childhood. Follow your foodie to a small alley to get an idea of a typical tube houses of Hanoi. You will stop at Banh Mi Lan Ong and try their famous bread with pate. After the banh mi, you can enjoy some Vietnamese desserts - sweet soups called Che. Then cap off your trip by tasting a cup of Vietnamese egg coffee before returning back to your hotel.
Hanoi water puppets show
Early evening transfer to a public theatre for a water puppets performance. The art of water puppetry began approximately a thousand years ago, possibly in the flooded rice fields of Vietnam. Puppeteers stand in waist-high water and manipulate their charges in such a way that you can’t help but be swept up in the legend being told. Each short skit in the performance relates to the daily life of the people.

Tai Chi practice with a Master by the lake
Most Hanoi residents love practicing Tai Chi at the break of dawn to reduce stress and improve balance and flexibility through gentle movements. Take an early morning drive to a lake. Meet with a local Tai Chi Master who has been practicing this oriental exercise and philosophy for almost 10 years. Breathe in fresh air, listen to birds singing and move your body according to the Master’s instructions. Speak to him about the popularity of Tai Chi in Hanoi through the translator. Return to your hotel for breakfast.
Hanoi half day city tour
Start the tour with a sit down at a coffee shop tucked away in a century-old house to observe the typical morning culture of Hanoians before work. Chat with your guide over a cup of special egg coffee, a Hanoian specialty, and gain an insight into daily Hanoi life. Then drive to the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing monument lavishly built using marble and granite, and where the preserved body of Uncle Ho resides.
After that, you can visit the One Pillar Pagoda which is a historic Buddhist temple in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is regarded alongside the Perfume Temple, and one of Vietnam's two most iconic temples. Behind the Mausoleum, you can see Ho Chi Minh's House where he lived and worked. It is made of wood and enjoys a tranquil setting, with a view of a lotus pond. Ho Chi Minh’s belongings are on display and you can walk up the steps of his house to see his bedroom. Wind your way afterwards to the Temple of Literature, the first University for the sons of mandarins, for an overview about Hanoian culture and appreciation for ancient Vietnamese architecture.
Private culinary experience at EZ cooking class
Lunch at local restaurant. Visit a vibrant market with a local chef from EZ cooking class center, where the trainers have been sourced from famous restaurants and hotels around Hanoi. Select locally produced food, fresh vegetables and spices under the chef’s guidance before returning to the kitchen to learn how to prepare Vietnamese traditional cuisine in this hands-on cooking class. Demonstrate your culinary flair in the kitchen before you have a chance to enjoy your creations with the chef.
My Village Show
Late this afternoon depart from your hotel to see My Village Show - a combination of arts highlighting the peaceful country life and poetic scenery of Vietnam. The scene of the show is Northern Vietnam’s village life which is presented under a new cirque approach. It contains episodes of Vietnamese traditional folk games, dances and circus acts performed against the background of traditional and modern music combined with artistic lighting. Bamboo pipes and baskets are used throughout the performance as set decorations and traditional daily activities of villagers and festive celebrations are demonstrated by performers and musicians in farmers clothing. After the show, transfer back to your hotel.

Ceramic village hideaway
After recent excavations, archaeologists came to the conclusion that Kim Lan Village has been a center producing ancient ceramic wares since the 13th -14th centuries. Thanks to the hands of skilled artisans, clay from this village is turned into beautiful and useful products which are famous throughout Vietnam.
Enjoy a 15-min boat ride to reach this peaceful village. Meet with the local researcher for a walk through their small ceramic museum. Visit some of the local families making ceramics by traditional methods. Have a chance to chat with the craftsmen as they share their life stories. Stroll around the village surrounded by vegetable gardens to enjoy the countryside scenery before cruising back to town.
Home hosted lunch with a family of musicians
Located in a quiet lane is the home of a musician couple. The husband is a flutist in the National Orchestra while the wife is a piano teacher. Enjoy a lunch hosted in the cozy dining room to understand the important role meals at home play in Vietnam. Chat and share with them life experiences through their lovely family photo album. After the meal, enjoy a melodious performance of flute and piano entertained by the hosts themselves.
