Portugal is one of the world’s countries with the highest number of World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. This holiday tour will take you to visit many of these sites. During the trip a Local Host will accompany you, dealing with all the details.
Welcome at Lisbon airport. Transfer to your hotel. Before dinner, we will take a evening walk through Lisbon.
Day dedicated to the city of Lisbon. We will start near the Tagus river, in the Belém area, visiting the magnificent and imposing Jeronimos Monastery and Belem Tower.
Nearby, we will visit the Monument to the Discoveries and the Berardo Museum, where you can get to know one of the largest contemporary art collections. In Belém, we will pass by the famous Pastéis de Belém House to taste this sweet with 137 years of history.
The afternoon will be devoted to the historical part of the city, the Baixa Pombalina.
The day ends with a dinner in a fado house, followed by a show of fado, a style of music considered Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Free day to enjoy the city of Lisbon.
With unique landscapes and a atmosphere of love and romance, Sintra has become a place worth visiting. It has history, traditions and unique flavors. We will begin our discovery of Sintra by the Sierra of Sintra, considered Natural Heritage of Humanity.
We will also visit the Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, Quinta da Regaleira and finally, the historic center. In the end, we will taste a typical sweet: travesseiros de Sintra. Delicious!
Day dedicated to the Alentejo region, renowned for its plains of unparalleled beauty, food and wine. We will start by the city of Elvas. The nomination of World Heritage Site in Elvas includes a wide range of military monuments. Known as Cidade Quartel Fronteiriço, has the largest system in the world bulwark fortifications.
Then we will go to Evora, a city with roots dating back to the Roman Empire, retaining traces of several civilizations, within its walls.
Departure towards the West Coast, to discover a region with many centuries of history. We will start by visiting in Tomar the Convent of Christ, once headquarters of the Knights Templar. Following is the Batalha Monastery, one of the masterpieces of human creativity and the testimony of the development of architecture and technology of monumental arts.
We continue towards Alcobaça. The Monastery of Alcobaça fascinates us by its grandeur, quality of construction, beauty and purity of the materials used.
Before returning to Lisbon, passage through the medieval town of Obidos.
