The fortress is the only medieval monument in Moldova, which has been preserved entirely as it was designed by its builders. Above the entrance gate the tourists can visit the small military church.

Later we will proceed to Pocrovca village for a traditional meal in a countryside house, Pocrovscaia Usadiba. The excursion around the wine galleries is done either by car or by a minibus depending on the number of people in the group.

Capriana Monastery and Hincu Convent

In the afternoon we will head for the forests of Codrii to visit the XIVth century Capriana monastery as well as Hincu convent, hidden in the dense forest.

Our first stop will be Capriana village with one of the oldest monasteries in Moldova. For a long period of time it was the headquarters of Moldova’s bishop. It was founded by the great Moldovan Ruler Stefan the Great. Closed and dilapidated during the post-war period, it was reopened again in 1989, becoming a symbol of national revival.

We will continue to Hincu convent. It was founded in 1678 and as a hermitage for women. Its founder was a Moldovan nobleman Mihai Ginkul, who built the nunnery at his daughter's will: there she took the veil. During the XVIIIth century it was destroyed many times by the Tatars and was totally neglected. In the XIXth century the cloister was reconstructed and inhabited by monks. At the same time both stone churches, Assumption and St. Paraskeva, and the storages were built.

Purcari & Et Cetera Wineries

Purcari and EtCetera Wineries Full Day Tour

After breakfast, on the way to Purcari we will make a stop in the town of Causeni. This is where an ancient architectural monument of a particular artistic and historical value is located –a church built during the Tatar-Mongolian period of stay in Moldova in XVth century. The inner walls of the church are fully covered with antique frescoes.

The fact that makes this church unique is its construction. It is half-buried into the ground. The explanation of this comes from a legend that dates from the times when the Tatars were living on the territory. It is said that the Tatars admitted the construction of a Christian church with the condition that it had the height of a man riding a horse.

Next we will drive to the village Purcari with its famous estate and winery Purcari –the oldest wine-estate in Moldova, a French-style castle with wine cellars established in 1827.
