Luang Prabang & Pak Ou Caves

After breakfast, we will visit The National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture throughout the ages. 

We will enjoy a short-guided tour of the city's oldest temple, the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong where you can see its impressive tree of life mosaic set in colored glass. We then board an upstream cruise on the Mekong River, which will give us a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside. We’ll make sure to stop at the Pak Ou Caves, sanctuaries consisting of two large caverns, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images. 

We will also stop at a few villages during the day, including Ban Xanghai where the local rice wine is produced. Once back in Luang Prabang city we take a visit to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xieng Lek - small villages well known for silk weaving and Saa (Jute) paper-making.

Kuang Si Waterfall

After breakfast, visit the ethnicities and crafts center TAEC, the temples of Wat Visoun, then we continue our trip to Kuang Si Waterfall. It is possible to walk along the top of the waterfall and if time permits, and you can even swim in the clear waters at the foot of the waterfall. Picnic lunch at the falls. 

On return to the city, we will climb to the top of Mount Phou Si to explore the sacred, gilded stupa as well as capture a beautiful view of the city and the Mekong River at sunset. From there, we will visit the Night Market, where you can browse through a lovely selection of handmade textiles.

Luang Prabang → Xieng Khouang

In the morning, we will leave Luang Prabang for Xieng Khouang, associated with the historic war between 1964 and 1973. On the way we will stop to visit Hmong villages and the Russian Tank broken during the Indochina War. Arrival at Xieng Khouang and transfer to your hotel, then free at leisure

Plain of Jars

After breakfast, spend the day visiting the famous Plain of Jars, a vast area extending around Phonsavanh from the south-west to the north-east. Mysterious and ancient, over 300 huge stone jars apparently carved out of solid rock are scattered around the plateau. Today's tour will focus on Site I and Site II, out of the many sites so far discovered. 

Afterwards continue to Muang Khoun, an ancient capital and stronghold for the Xieng Khuang royal family that was destroyed during the Indochina War. The town was rebuilt after 1975 with rows of wooden Lao houses and a market area and is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Visit Wat Phia That and That Foun

Xieng Khouang → Muang Kham → Xam Nuea

After breakfast, we will travel to Xam Nuea, the land of the Pa Ted Laos. In 1965 this town only was out of control of CIA, so Laos dissident leaders decided to set up the party headquarters here. 

We will drive about 7 hours across mountains and valleys, on the way we will stop at Piu Cave, where more than 200 Lao people were bombed by the CIA. 

Later on we will visit the hot spring and then travel to the Standing Stone Park near Xam Neua. The park was considered to be the old cemetery of the former dwellers. Arrival at Xam Nuea and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure

Weaving Village & Vienxay

After breakfast, we will visit a local weaving center near your hotel in Xam Nuea, then continue to Vienxay district where the Laos army hid during the Indochina War. We will meet with the site's official guide so he can explain how Lao fighters used these caves. In the afternoon, we will return to Xam Nuea.

Xam Nuea → Nong Khiaw

In the morning, we will travel to Nong Khiaw, the a karst limestone town in the north.

On the way we will stop to explore the local Khmu and Hmong villages to know about their culture and daily lives. Upon arrival Nong Khiaw, your guide will take you for a walk to explore the town and enjoy sunset on Nam Ou River Bridge

Luang Prabang

After breakfast, we will travel to Luang Prabang. On the way we will visit Tai Lue at Ban Nayang. We will see the local weavers and learn how to make woman skirts, trousers and family’s clothes from silk and real cotton. We will understand how to grow mulberry for feeding silk worms. 

We will arrive Luang Prabang in the late afternoon then transfer to hotel.
