Bodhgaya

Assistance on arrival at Bodhgaya airport followed by transfer to the hotel. After dropping our luggage we will start with our city tour of Bodhgaya

Our visit starts with the Mahabodhi Temple, one of the Four Buddhist Pilgrims sites in the world. It was here that the Buddha meditated under a bodhi tree and attained enlightenment. The temple complex houses numerous shrines, statues and stupas, each connected to a specific moment during Buddha's transforming stay in Bodhgaya, including a bodhi tree which is a descendant of the original one and offers one of the top meditation experiences you can have.

After our visit we will make drive to the Niranjana River and the Sujata village, was the firs place that Buddha visited after his seven weeks in Bodhgaya.

We will also have time to explore the many temples that have been built by other Buddhist nations in their local style. This tour of Buddhist architecture will show us temples and monasteries with distinct Burmese, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Nepali and Bhutanese character.

Bodhgaya → Varanasi

After breakfast drive to Varanasi. Upon arrival check in at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure.

Located on the banks of the Ganges River, Varanasi is the holiest city for Hindus. It is believed those who die here are set free from samsara (the cycle of birth and rebirth) and achieve moksha (the hindu nirvana). Its numerous ghats (stone steps) on the river are home to mystical sadhus (holy men) and the constant visits of pilgrims from all over India who come to bathe at the holiest of rivers.
