Tortuguero National Park

After breakfast, guided walking tour through the trails of the lodge.

In the afternoon, guided visit to Tortuguero National Park exploring the canals in small, open boats to allow better visibility.

Created to protect the most important nesting site of the green turtle in the Western Hemisphere, Tortuguero National Park extends along 14 miles of shoreline and 19 miles out to sea. The Canal de Tortuguero runs through the park, connecting a labyrinth of deltas, canals, and lagoons.

With 11 distinct life zones ranging from raffia palm forest to herbaceous swamps, the park offers one of the most rewarding nature experiences in the country. This watery world is best seen by boat; the wide canals allow grandstand wildlife viewing, and silent approaches on the water permit unusually close contact with the fauna. River otters, caimans, and howler monkeys are easily sighted as are birds such as oropendolas, toucans, and jacamars and other waterfowl.

For most visitors, the star attraction is the green turtle, which nests between June and November. However, three other species of marine turtles also come ashore throughout the year, although in lesser numbers.

Arenal Volcano and Hanging Bridges

After breakfast, natural history walk in the Hanging Bridges.

Located within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, the trails and bridges of this project will bring the visitor as close as any person could ever imagine observing the birds, the flowers and the lush vegetation of the primary rainforest. The property has impressive views to Arenal Volcano and to the lake that feeds the largest hydroelectric plant in Costa Rica.

In the afternoon, see from up close the activities of the Arenal Volcano.

Few sites in Costa Rica inspire more respect and admiration than Arenal Volcano. At 5437 feet, its tall and conical shape stands imposing over the pastured green hillsides that surround its base. Although currently in a resting phase, Arenal remains one of Costa Rica’s most active volcano over the past 43 years.

This tour will allow you to enjoy the most extraordinary views of Arenal Volcano during a gentle hike along the lower slopes of the colossus. The walk begins in one of the trails close to the volcano and continues through the forest until reaching the area destroyed in its first eruption, back in 1968. This tour takes approximately 2 ½ hours.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning guided visit to Manuel Antonio National Park.

This National Park is one of the most popular in the country thanks to its wide variety of flora and fauna. It is home to 3 of the 4 existing monkey species in Costa Rica. The park itself boasts 3 different trails that vary in grade from flat to very steep.

During this tour, visitors will be accompanied by a nature guide who is knowledgeable about everything they will see. The trail they will take is approximately 2 miles long, flat and picturesque and loops through the Park. Throughout the hike, the guide will stop and explain the different nature specimens that can be observed. Half way through the hike, a 20-minute stop will be made at the third beach for everyone to rest on the beach or play among the waves if they choose so.

Throughout the hike they will be able to observe sloths, birds and reptiles, as well as admire orchids, butterflies and tropical trees. The guides are equipped with telescopes that visitors can use to observe wildlife and take pictures with a different perspective. Transportation back to the hotel is included right after the tour.

Stop for a refreshing swim and a delicious snack. You can also try snorkeling to observe three small but growing, active, and astounding coral reef systems nestled very close to the shore or just relax and enjoy the tranquility of a secluded white sand beach.
