Santa Marta

Arrival to the airport in Santa Marta on an intercontinental flight. Reception and transfer to the hotel.

Trekking to Ciudad Perdida

After breakfast, departure from the city of Santa Marta, to take the shuttle to the town of Machete to begin the trekking expedition on the spectacular Sierra, the largest in Colombia and one of the most beautiful in the world. A light lunch in a Finca of the peasant Vereda of Honduras. 

Then hike to the first Wiwa Indigenous camp on the shores of Buritaca River. In the afternoon, arrival to the indigenous camp, the accommodation is in hammocks with mosquito net.

Trekking to Ciudad Perdida

Wake up at 7:30 am, after breakfast, hike in the valley of Buritaca stopping by the Kogui Village of Mutanyi and the Vereda of Koskunguena with a beautiful panorama over the Sierra Nevada.

We will then cross the Buritaca River up to the farm of a Mamo Kogui’s spiritual head. Then lunch and time for swimming in the Buritaca River and in a beautiful waterfall.

Trekking to Ciudad Perdida

After breakfast, hike to the entrance of the Ciudad Perdida and climb the 2000 stone steps to arrive to the archaeological site. 

Visit of the site with its numerous terraces and ceremonial centers in the middle of the jungle. Then lunch on the shores of a waterfall with miraculous properties according to the legend. Return to the previous day camp and dinner.

Trekking in Sierra Nevada

In the morning hiking in the Sierra Nevada and return to the Mamey Region. 

Lunch near Mutanyi. In the afternoon arrival to the indigenous camp for dinner and accommodation.

After breakfast, visit a magnificent waterfall. Then, hike to Machete Pelao, lunch and transfer to the Tayrona National Park.

Palomino & Kogui Serhviaka

After breakfast, take a 45 minute journey from Tayrona National Park to Palomino, a town near Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a place where one of the biggest indigenous communities of Colombia lives.

Upon arrival, enjoy an ecological walk along an indigenous road which leads to Kogui Serhviaka town. Once with the community, learn about their culture and mores, guided by one of its members. Get to know their typical houses called “bohíos”, which are built with mud. 

Then visit Palomino beaches and then optional tubing through Palomino River. Lunch during the excursion. Return by car to Tayrona National Park.

Los Flamencos Wildlife Sanctuary

After breakfast, transfer to Riohacha. On the way, visit to the Santuario de Flora y Fauna Los Flamencos in the county of Camarones, a territory that in the past belonged to the Guanebucanes indigenous people. This is an important lagoon system where you can spot the pink ibis, pink-coloured

flamingos and also appreciate its beautiful beaches. 

On a traditional fishing boat the trip continues to the Environmental Investigation and Educational Centre that works for the conservation of marine turtles which are endangered and are released into the wild once they have matured to an age that promises better chances of survival in the wild. Then continue to Riohacha and hotel check-in.

Cabo de la Vela

After breakfast, leave to Cabo de la Vela, a remote fishing village along the tip of the Guajira peninsula. 

Break the journey after 60km to visit the salt flats at Manaure. These tall mountains of brilliant white salt play tricks on the mind with their extreme contrasts along the sea, sand and sky. 

Later in Uribia, the indigenous capital of the department, see the fine artistry and
handicrafts of the Wayuu such as their hammocks and mochila bags are on display. Moving on to Pilon de Azucar Beach, where the blue sea is only interrupted by golden sands. From the top of the point at Pilon there is a 360º view. Lunch during transfer. Arrival and check in Cabo de la Vela.

Punta Gallinas

After breakfast, transfer to the pier to take a boat to Punta Gallinas
